You may have seen there are two events addressing graduate education
scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25. One is hosted by the Graduate School,
the other by the Philosophy Department. Unfortunately publicity
rollout, commitments of participants, and the like preclude a
rescheduling of either event. The good news is any UTC student
interested in graduate education has ample opportunity to learn about
what it takes to get in a great program and stay in until successful
completion.
Please share with your students.
Graduate School Presentation
Wed. January 25, 2:00-4:00 Lookout Mt. Room
A presentation on finding the right graduate program,
developing an effective application package, taking admission exams,
seeking financial aid, and generally what to expect. There will be a
well timed break to allow students who are interested to move to over
the second option.
Philosophy Department
Wed. January 25, 3:15-4:30 Holt 301
Panel discussion of graduate education in the Humanities and
Social Sciences; this is a realistic discussion of what you need to do
and what to expect for the lifestyle of a young professional in the
academy. Please see the message from Dr. Riberio for specifics.
If you have students who need to know more about their graduate
opportunities or if you want a student to know more, encourage them to
take advantage of these events.
