Legal Aid of East Tennessee, The Red Cross, First Lutheran Church, and other agencies will be conducting a Katrina Disaster Workshop for evacuees. It will take place at First Lutheran Church at 2800 McCallie Avenue on Tuesday, September 20 beginning at 10:00 AM. Lunch will be provided for the evacuees.

We will have lawyers and representatives from various agencies present to provide information on all sorts of topics. For example, there will be information on government and other benefits such as cash payments, TennCare, housing, unemployment benefits, Families First payments, FEMA assistance, and Food Stamps. We will also have lawyers present to discuss insurance, replacement of lost documents, access to assets, and foreclosure relief.

Although we can inform evacuees in shelters about this event, we need help in reaching evacuees staying with families and at local motels. Please spread the word. Thank you!
