Dr. George Ross, Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance,
has announced that he has accepted a position at Clark Atlanta University
as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Ross will remain at UTC until August 1, at which time the search
process for his replacement will begin.
"The job at Clark Atlanta University is a great career opportunity
for me," said Ross, "but I have met and worked with some great people here
at UTC and I will miss them all.
"In the four years I have been here I have seen great progress. I
believe we are all working together and communicating better as a campus
community and being a part of that process has been one of the highlights
of my career here."
According to Chancellor Bill Stacy, a search process will be
convened to begin August 1 that will include consultation with UT President
Wade Gilley, and other top administrative officials and university
constituencies.
"In the interim, Dr. Bill Aiken, Associate Provost for Academic
Administration, will serve as Acting Vice Chancellor for Administration and
Finance. Richard Brown, Associate Vice Chancellor for Administrative
Services, will have increased responsibilities, as well," said Stacy.
"Losing someone of George's caliber is a loss not only for me and
for this campus, but it is a loss for the entire community. I have
enjoyed having him here and I look forward to continuing a professional
relationship with him. On a personal level, I am happy that he is
advancing so well in his career and I know he will do a terrific job
wherever he goes," added Stacy.
Ross joined the UTC administration in 1995. Prior to coming to
Chattanooga he was Vice President for Business and Fiscal Affairs at
Tuskeegee University in Alabama.
Clark Atlanta University is a private college with more than 5,900
students and is classified as a Carnagie Research I insitution, offering
bachelor's, master's, specialists and doctoral degrees.
