The Institute of Archaeology needs approximately 25 metal, water-tight, one
gallon cans for use in a large scale artifact conservation project--a huge
waterlogged wooden wagon wheel that we're trying to preserve for TVA. The
kind of containers we're looking for are what paint thiner, copier fluid,
acetone, cooking oil, etc., come in. Rather than buying new empty cans, I'd
much prefer to recycle some that are being thrown away on campus. If you
have any, please let me know, and I'll come collect them immediately.
Besides prolonging the life of the Summit landfill, your donation will also
contribute to the preservation (and eventual interpretation, we hope) of
the mining history of this region (the wheel is from a historic ore cart,
we think).
Thanks,
Nicholas Honerkamp
