February 8, 2002

Meeting began @ 2:10 P.M. in the Fortwood Room of the University Center

Dr. Jones issued handouts to be perused. These handouts consisted of:
a) Peer-Review Team's Report from 1996, b) the self -study instrument
pertaining to academic integrity, c) second-cycle issues and d) summary
of recommendations and suggestions.

Dr. Jones then appointed three sub-committees to begin the self study.
These committees are as follows:

Academic Standards, Sandy Zitkus, chair

                                  Walker Breland

                                  Cecilia Wigal

                                  Tiffany Smith

Academic Support, Molly Kotarsky, chair

                               Verbie Prevost

                               Emmanuel DeWalt

Scheduling, Billy Edwards, chair

                    Mike Jones

The timetable for info gathering, archival searching and for a
preliminary report was agreed upon. The committee will reconvene
Friday, March 8.

Dr. Leroy Fanning joined us for a few minutes. A discussion followed
about the history of the policy for missed classes for student/athletes
traveling with their teams. The present policy is three
Monday-Wednesday-Fridays and two Tuesday-Thursdays but no one knew where
this was written. Sandy Zitkus agreed to find written documentation
verifying this policy.

Dr. Fanning suggested minutes should be stored in a centrally located
place. He also suggested we publish each committee's minutes on Raven.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:10 P.M. with thanks from the chair
