David Baker, project coordinator of the Southeast district's Tennessee
Early Intervention System (TEIS), has received $1,131,665 from the
Tennessee Department of Education to continue TEIS services in our
community for the 2002-2003 fiscal year. The Southeast TEIS program
supports ten counties surrounding the Chattanooga region.
TEIS provides individualized services to families with developmentally
disabled children. They intervene early in the child's life to plan the
best strategies for the child's future success. The program furthers the
effort of UTC's College of Health and Human Service's endeavor to extend
services to the Chattanooga community. UTC students benefit from the
program; physical therapy, social work, and education students are able to
learn about their fields of study first-hand during their work with TEIS.
The students may even take part in internships with TEIS.
Congratulations to David Baker, and best of luck for the continued success
of TEIS!
