4TH STREET CONSTRUCTION PROJECTION UPDATE AND CLOSURES

The City Traffic Engineeršs office announced the following street closures
effective 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, in conjunction with the 4th
Street widening project:

Chestnut Street will be closed at 4th Street.  All southbound traffic on
Chestnut Street will be detoured to Broad Street via 2nd and 3rd Streets.
Northbound traffic on Chestnut Street will be detoured to Market Street via
4th Street.

Fourth Street will be narrowed to one lane eastbound at both Chestnut Street
and Broad Street.  Westbound traffic on 4th Street between Chestnut and
Market Streets will be closed.

Northbound Broad Street at 4th Street will be closed.  All northbound
traffic will be detoured to Market Street via 4th Street.

Construction is expected to be two months in duration and during that time
these closures will be in effect 24 hours a day.  Because these closures
will have a significant impact on traffic movements in the downtown, drivers
are used to seek alternate routes.
