Kudos to Stuart Benkert and Shane Porter for pulling off a terrific Band Day
performance Saturday at the UTC-Citadel football game.
When the music cranked up from the stands, not only was the presence felt on
the field, I think it reverberated off Lookout Mountain. All the bands were
visually and musically imposing. They sounded and looked great!
I can only image what it was like on The Citadel sidelines to have such
deafening performances playing in their ears THE ENTIRE GAME. The Citadel
must have had a rather difficult time just trying to think straight when THE
BANDS cranked up! It was terrific to hear the loud music and then look at
the stands to see hundreds of band members jumping up and down in unison as
though they scripted it. (Perhaps they did.)
The UTC Band is already the best in the Southern Conference and one of the
best in the Region, but I think Saturday's performance shows exactly what
kind of band the University could have if the funding was in place to march
200+.
Great job Stuart and Shane!!
