Can anyone out there help me? In two articles, while doing research, the
following appears:

1) Test scores analyzed in context of other variables (educational
aspirations, probabilities.... reveal that:
* Blacks are more likely to pursue higher education, with controls for SES
and test scores
(appeared in ASA News article 8/13/02)

2) 1972 & 1980 Enrollment Rates, by SES and Test Score
(appeared in website of UW-Madison Department of Educational Administration)

My question is: What is SES?

Thanks.
