Legal Aid of East Tennessee will once again conduct fair housing tester training. The next training is set for Tuesday, February 17, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the offices of Legal Aid of East Tennessee. We are located at The Doctors Building, 744 McCallie Avenue, Suite 410. Free parking is located behind the building.
Those completing tester training will be paid $50 and lunch will be provided. The course teaches folks how to go out into the community and investigate housing discrimination and report same. All participants will also do a real test on February 17. All this is funded by a HUD grant to fight discrimination in our community. The $50.00 will be mailed to participants. Those completing the class will also have opportunities to do more paid testing in the future.
If you or someone you know would like to take part, get $50 bucks, lunch, and fight for justice at the same time, call Jacqueline Strong-Moss at 756-4013, Ext. 119. Everyone is welcome.
Please note that the protected classes under federal fair housing laws are race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, and familial status (i.e., Folks with children). Thanks.
