UTC TRACK COACH QUALIFIES FOR U.S. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Chattanooga assistant track and field coach Karol
Jenkins
qualified for the United States World Championship Track and Field Team by
placing third in the
high jump this past weekend at the USA Outdoor Track and Field
Championships in Eugene,
Oregon.
Jenkins will be a member of the U.S. contingent that will compete at the
Track and Field
World Championships Aug. 21-29 in Seville, Spain.
She cleared a personal-best 6-foot-4 in the high jump, finishing behind
Trisha Waller, who
cleared 6-6, and Amy Acuff, who also cleared 6-4. The accomplishment also
qualifies Jenkins for
a spot at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Jenkins, beginning her third year as an assistant to Bill Gautier at UTC,
finished fourth at
the last Olympic Trials and was an alternate on the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team.
