I'm not generally one to complain about petty things but the new conveyor
belt drink machine in the UC is the most blatant example of overdesign I've
seen in some time. If it was overdesigned and worked it would be one thing
but it fails constantly. You don't even need to use it to see how often if
fails, just walk by and look in. Every drink bottle leaning outwards towards
the glass is another $1.25 lost by someone. Even better is that once the
bottle in front is leaning, that row seems to continue to fail. 
Maybe you can send your design, business and/or engineering students by to
have a look at what seemed to be a "cool concept" that failed in execution
(I guess if it's taking in $1.25 and giving out nothing it's not necessarily
failing at business, in the short term).
