A friend of mine sent me a copy of the letter below that is being sent
to anyone who took the Praxis exam in January or June of 2001. There was a
serious problem with the exam as you can see from the letter. I thought you might find it of interest if any of your students were affected..

Dear Praxis Test Candidate:
You have been identified as a candidate who took the Praxis Series Mathematics: Content Knowledge test (Test Code 0061) during the January 2001 or June 2001 test administration. Our records indicate that you have the option of retesting at no additional cost.

Due to a staff error, 23 previously published questions were part of this 50-question teacher certification exam administered in January and June. Because of this error, ETS is offering those candidates who did not meet the state passing score an opportunity to re-test at no cost.

If you have not already scheduled a retest with ETS, please choose one of the following options:

  a.. To retest on September 22, 2001, please contact ETS immediately at (609) 771-7395 to complete your registration.
  a.. To retest on any of the remaining national administration dates for the 2001-2002 testing year, please contact ETS at (609) 771-7395 by the regular registration deadline listed in the Registration Bulletin. These dates are provided below for your convenience:
