I loved the analogy that Mr. Miller made to the asteroid. Yes, IRIS is
coming and there is nothing we can do to stop it. I am a non-exempt
employee and nowhere in his message did I get the impression that he was
saying I was not intelligent or responsible.
I am a trainer for "Overview" and "Purchasing" and as a trainer, I know
that this campus is moving as fast as possible to get everyone into the
appropriate classes. Besides trying to teach, we do have our regular
jobs. (I also have a 2nd job from 5:30-9:30 pm) I personally have been
coming in on Sundays to practice, because since I offered to help train
I wanted to understand it as best I could in order to teach others. It
isn't easy but I know it will pay off in the long run, making it easier
for me to do my job. As long as I do work here, I intend to do the best
job I possibly can and if that means using some of my own precious time
to learn a new system, (PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE) then so be it.
By the way, the more I practice and the more I use it, the better I like
it!
If you feel you need a class or if you would like to repeat a class,
give Melanie in personnel a call.
Laura has the names of the trainers on the IRIS web site and any of us
can be contacted at any time with questions. http://www.utc.edu/iris
