Just to set the record straight:
I am one of the two people who told Verbie that I thought that the
implementation report might fail again in faculty meeting if the vote on
it was taken before Rice's resolutions were discussed. I did so on the
basis of what some faculty said to me. But in my case at least Verbie
should not characterize that as a threat. Frankly, I am of the opinion
that the PRC is about the best we can make of a bad situation and I had
not intended to vote against it.
However, I understand the reluctance of currently tenured faculty to
vote for it. They would like to go on record as saying that they regard as
the Handbook as it existed before the Trustees' changes as their contract.
That is actually the only part of Rice's resolutions that I regard as
essential.
Sincerely,
Mike Russell
