Dr. Henry Spratt of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences
has been asked to participate in a conference on Environmental Science
Studies undergraduate programs.

The conference will take place at Oberlin College, sponsored by a National
Science Foundation grant, from June 21-23, 2001.  The conference will host
a small group of people identified by their thoughtfulness and knowledge of
environmental studies pedagogy to discuss the in-depth issues central to
this subject.  The conference will meet in the newly constructed Adam J.
Lewis Center for Environmental Studies.  Most of the conference time will
be spent in groups discussing questions of interest to those engaged in
undergraduate instruction in environmental studies.  The agenda for the
meeting will be developed interactively with participants before June 21.

Congratulations to Dr. Spratt on being selected to participate in this
conference, in recognition of his contributions to his field.
