Subject: Benefit Concerts for UTC Professor of Music

Dear UTC Music Fans,

Kathy Tugman and friends are holding a series of benefit
concerts for David Walters, a fantastic jazz/classical piano player and
music professor here at UTC. Please invite your friends, family,
faculty/staff co-workers and everyone else to enjoy great music in
support of a great person! There will be three shows, all of a different
nature. They are:

            THURSDAY, AUGUST 31 _ RHYTHM & BREWS AT 8:00 P.M.

This show will feature Kathy and her pop band, with special guests
including Tumbleweed, Dan Landrum, Joshua Edwards and Justin Karpinos.
This show will rock and soar! There will be great pop and folk music
from Kathy and the band, classic country rock from Tumbleweed, hammered
dulcimer magic from Dan Landrum and modern singer/songwriter work from
Josh and Justin. The cover charge will be $10, all of which will go to
the David Walters Fund. Mike Dougher and Rhythm & Brews are letting us
use their venue for this event without the normal charge. Come on out
for a spirited evening!

            THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 - 212 MARKET RESTAURANT AT 7:00 P.M.

The Kathy Tugman Quartet will be performing its always popular
repertoire of classic and modern jazz standards at this first class
downtown restaurant. Sally Moses and 212 Market are donating the
profits of the evening to the David Walters Fund. This event will be a
casually elegant one, with top drawer dining and sophisticated music.
Reservations can be made by calling 265-1212.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14 - MELANIE'S ON BRAINERD ROAD, WITH
TWO SETS AT 7:30 P.M. AND 9:15 P.M.

The Kathy Tugman Quartet returns to its favorite venue, one of the best
rooms in town for music of any kind, but especially for jazz. Joining
the Quartet will be other local jazz musicians, meaning that this will
be an evening of great American music, performed by gifted musicians in
a range of styles. Dr. Willie Mae Brooks and Melanie's have graciously
waived the normal fee for the room, so the proceeds from the door will
go to the David Walters Fund. Reservations can be made by calling
698-4433.

There should be something here for almost everyone. If
you're a true connoisseur of intelligent and entertaining music, you'll
want to take in all three events. If you're booked on all three nights,
a contribution to the Fund would be welcome. Please contact me at
876-7175 or send an email to [log in to unmask] for more details.

If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail and I'll
be happy to answer. All of us look forward to seeing you at one, two or
all three of the events.

With gratitude for your help,

Joshua Edwards and Kathy Tugman
