Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, has consented to do a
small relatively private speech here at UTC on Friday, September 19, at
noon.
His topic is “Do we live in a different Era?" and will address the
promises, successes, and failures of the transformation of Eastern
Europe and specifically the Czech Republic toward a market economy.
He will also speak about the effects of the September 11th, terrorist
attacks
upon that process and the world economy.
We only have a few seats left available and if UTC faculty and / or
exceptional students which faculty might wish to recommend, would like
to attend we will be happy to get you an invitation as long as space
lasts. Please contact Martha Yates at 425-4118 with your name and email
address to get a seat.
Both President Klaus' speech on September 19th and the appearance of
Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith on September 18th in the Burkett Miller
Distinguished Lecture series are sponsored by the Probasco Chair.
