Noted theologian and novelist Frederick Buechner will speak here
on Monday, January 26th
during an evening dedicated to the memory of our late colleague, UTC
Guerry Professor of English, George Connor. The program, which will
include a conversation between Dr. Buechner and Dr. Clifton
Cleaveland, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Hackett Ward
Theatre at the UTC Fine Arts
Center.
A reception for Dr. Buechner will be held at 6 p.m. at the
Patten House (Faculty Club).
Dr. Buechner's talk is free, but a charge of $25 is required for
those wishing to attend the
reception. People who wish to attend may mail checks made out to
the Connor Society
of the UC Foundation at 732 Cherry Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
Buechner is one of the best religious novelists writing today.
His historical novels,
such as "Brendan," are wonderful recreations of cultures distant in
time from us.

Connor Professor of American Literature
