What happened to last year's wholeheartedly expressed assurances that, in
the future, when scheduling Commencement, whoever does that task would pay
attention and not schedule it on Mother's Day?
Each year, everyone is chided for not attending, but for those of us who
are Moms and whose children do not live within commuting distance of UTC,
attendance at that ceremony is a SACRIFICE. (Yes, I AM screaming!) Every
May I am obliged to make a choice between my students and my
children/grandchildren. It's not fair. I have sacrificed celebrating
Mother's Day with my two children and two grandsons since I came to UTC,
and I do not want to do that anymore.
