SUBJECT:       June 30, 2003 Annual Leave Rollover

As part of the University of Tennessee Employee Redress Plan relating to the
July furlough, a change was made for this year in the date for transfer of
maximum annual leave to sick leave. According to this Plan, "the date for
assessing the maximum annual leave balance available for carry forward was
changed from December 31, 2002, to June 30, 2003."
University administration has confirmed that the rollover of annual leave
will occur on June 30, 2003, as previously stated. However, the decision has
been made to increase rollover maximums on a one-time basis to allow for the
addition of the amount of annual leave an individual would accrue from
January through June 2003.
The following are the maximum leave balances that will be established for
full-time employees accruing annual leave (Regular Staff, exempt and
non-exempt; and Regular Faculty on 12 month appointments) during the June 30
rollover process (roll-over maximums are prorated for regular part-time
employees):
Employee Group          Policy Maximum  Jan.-June Accrual       June 30 Maximum
Exempt staff;                   42 days                 + 12 days               = 54 days (432 hours)
12 month faculty;
Non-exempt staff
with 20+ years service
Non-exempt staff                39 days                 + 10.5 days             = 49.5 days (396 hours)
with 11-20 years service
Non-exempt staff                36 days                 + 9 days                = 45 days (360 hours)
with 6-10 years service
Non-exempt staff                30 days                 + 6 days                = 36 days (288 hours)
with up to 5 years service
As of December 31, 2003, the annual leave rollover will be reinstated for
all employees at the existing policy maximums and the rollover will be
scheduled to occur at the end of the calendar year.

In accordance with state law and Personnel Policy 305, any payments for
annual leave to employees terminating during this period will be no greater
than the maximum allowable carry forward amount.
