UTC Faculty and Staff,

The Educational Opportunity Center is seeking to fill a part-time, 20 hr.
per week postion for Education Specialist serving Walker and Catoosa
counties in Georgia.  This position provides eduational outreach and
counseling for the Southern Appalachian Educational Opportunity Center
assisting low-income potential first generation college students (adults)
in pursuing post secondary education.  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Bachelor's
Degree required in marketing, communication, psychology, education, or
related field with emphasis on the ability to relate to the target
population and to market the advantages of a college education; ability to
encourage and direct participants to educational opportunities; excellent
time management and organizational skills; preference given to
first-generation college graduates who have overcome barriers to
educational attainment similar to the target population.

This is a regular, part-time position funded by a five year grant from the
U.S. Department of Education as a TRIO Program.  The EOC is administered by
UTC's Center for Community Career Education.  This position will operate
from a satellite office at Northwestern Technical Institute.

I appreciate your assistance in recrutiment for this position.  Our
preference is to hire a resident of Georgia to reduce travel time and
expense.  We have had difficulity attracting candidates from Georgia with
