HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ALL UTC EMPLOYEES!

As we approach the Independence Day holiday, we pause to remember the
freedom and opportunities we enjoy as Americans. As UTC employees, we
may also pause to consider the benefits we enjoy as faculty and staff at
Chattanooga's university.

One way we can show our support for our University is to participate in
the Faculty and Staff Campaign. This year's appeal is called The Family
Fund, indicating what we can do by uniting to help UTC scale the heights
of excellence. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those
we serve.

While many of us have completed and returned our pledge cards to our
Building Captain or the designated person in our department, others of
us are lagging a bit behind. All departments are encouraged to strive
for 100 percent participation. If everyone in your department makes a
gift - whatever the size - then the entire UTC family benefits. Anyone
needing additional pledge cards, or anyone who has questions, should
call either extension 4232 or 5307.

There are many holiday activities planned in the Chattanooga region
through the Fourth of July, including the Arts in the Park Concert
Series on Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. in the Ted Bryant Park at the
corner of East 10th Street and Fairview Avenue. This concert series,
sponsored by UTC's Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) is free
of charge. You'll hear the smooth sounds of jazz by The Spectrum Big
Band of Chattanooga.

On Monday, the Pops on the River concert will be held in Coolidge Park
with music by the Chattanooga Symphony starting at 8 p.m., followed by a
fireworks display after the concert at 9:45 p.m.

Happy Fourth of July from the Faculty & Staff Campaign/Family Fund
Building Captains, and the Development Office's Nate Pinkard, Jan Uhles
and Bill Williams. We hope you have some fun on the fourth!
