Is anyone having trouble with Coyotes other than my neighborhood in Hixson -
Big Ridge? The problems are getting worse each year as we build homes and
apartment buildings - instead of moving away, they just travel the
neighborhoods and jump over fences and eat whatever they can find such as
small dogs and cats. They look sick to me. One girl at a pet store told me
her brother just shot one (which scares me in neighborhoods) and she also
saw one that could not walk - he just dropped to the ground.

I have read measures to take from other states but cannot find anything
about coyotes from Tennessee area - Protect pets, even big dogs after
dark, do not leave food outside, never leave small children in areas where
coyotes are known to be, even in your yard. They can get into trash so keep
your cans up. Clean up brush and weeds from around your property. Make
loud noises when you see a coyote and try to run them off - put up fence
with extenders and it goes on.

Although rare, they have attacked small children before and they also carry
many diseases. They are living anywhere in urban areas such as golf
courses.

Just wondered if other areas in Chattanooga were having problems?

Thanks

Donna Adams
