Dr. Deborah McAllister, UC Foundation Associate Professor, recently received
$4,657 from the Tennessee Space Grant Consortium for her project Integrating
Space and Other Natural Science IMAX DVDs with K-12 Curriculum.
Dr. McAllister plans to use the IMAX DVDs to supplement curriculum for
pre-service, elementary, middle grades, and secondary teachers, as well as
university faculty. This integration will occur both in the UTC classroom
and at field placement sites.
With supplemental support from a UC Instructional Excellence grant, close to
80 DVDs have been ordered for use in this project. Currently, a graduate
assistant is reviewing the DVDs to help Dr. McAllister create lesson plans
and WebQuests to accompany their use. Dr. McAllister will then place the
materials on a server so they will be accessible for instructors.
Congratulations to Dr. McAllister on creating new avenues of instruction for
science teachers.
