Greetings,

Tuesday (July 23) afternoon, the campus experienced
significant network slowdowns due to unexpected problems with
our core network equipment.  This was corrected and normal
service was restored around 5pm by Rusty Leutz.

The Networking Team, headed by Rusty, is working on a major
project to install new core network equipment and upgrade
the overall configuration of the network.  This project will
bring greater performance and reliability to the campus
network.  This work is unrelated to the outage this afternoon,
but I thought you might like to know there is a project to
improve network service.
