I know this is going to sound harsh, but, one of the reasons insurance rates are skyrocketing is the over-charging of certain routine procedures by, if not unethical, then greedy physicians/dentists/specialists of any kind who accept insurance. We always need to ask what the fee is going to be. If it seems high, then leave and shop around. Going to someone who accepts (or says he accepts) insurance does not mean that we should encourage their overpricing. As responsible consumers and advocates for good and fair healthcare practices, we must do our part by not using/encouraging these kinds of professionals.

Subject: Re: [UTCSTAFF] shabo dental spa

Have either of you thought of reporting them to the Better Business
Bureau? Or even the state board of dentistry?

I bet they would be *really* interested in such deceptive practices.

Then he told me about a mouthpiece that I needed to buy for $6,000.00 and that I would require three years of braces at some unknown cost. Of course when I asked Shabo about going to an oral surgeon to confirm TMJ, he said that the oral surgeon would just send me back to him. Shabo stated that he was just cutting out the middleman.
