Please remember to announce to your classes the Psych O'Cinema program
tomorrow afternoon with the movie The House of Sand and Fog. A copy of
the original announcement sent out last week appears below.

This program was initiated by the International Student Organization, so
a good turn out would be especially nice.

Thanks,

Ed Smith

To all Faculty and Professional Staff,

The Counseling and Career Planning Center is happy to announce that, in
conjunction with the Office of Cooperative Education and International
Programs and the International Student Organization, we will be hosting
our second Psych O'Cinema program for the Spring Semester.

We received extremely positive feedback from students who attended,
their instructors, and the University Community in general for our first
program last month (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

The movie for the second Psych O'Cinema will be The House of Sand and
Fog, starring, among others, Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (Ghandi).
It is a tragic story of a clash between individuals of different
cultures. As before, there will be a group discussion after the movie
concludes. If you want to offer this to your students for extra credit
or part of a regular assignment, proof of attendance will be provided
for those who are present for both the movie and the discussion. Also as
before, instructors are encouraged to attend with their students, but we
will be happy to provide a few test questions or topics for those
requesting them.

The content and issues addressed in The House of Sand and Fog are
especially relevant to courses in Political Science, Sociology,
Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Criminal Justice, but
any course that deals with diversity, conflict management,
communication, or adult development will be complemented. You and your
students may also simply find it an enjoyable (but intense) work.

Date: Tuesday, March 29

Time: 4:00-6:30 pm

Place: Tennessee Rm, University Center

Light refreshments will be provided (and the video equipment will work
without problems this time!)
