ANNOUNCING THE TOM WARE METAPHOR OF THE MONTH CLUB (MMC)
As you know, Tom is a gem of a faculty secretary, using his mousetrap mind
and rapier wit to ferret out metaphors lurking under overturned rocks,
exposing them to the light of day. When Tom meets his maker, kicks the
bucket, pushes up daisies, buys the farm, passes on, enters the Pearly
Gates, sleeps with the angels, dons his wings, etc., we will sorely miss
him, but his passing will be noted by a tongue of granite sticking out of a
sea of grass with these pearls of wisdom chiseled (chiseling being in vogue
these days) on its skin:
