Holy cow!! What a great lineup agin this week!! Congratulations to Roland
and his choir on their appearance at Spoleto!!

Also, Mark your calendars on June 20 and 27 at 4:45 PM and June 21 at 12:30
PM. The Southeast Center for Education in the Arts will present the play,
This Is Not a Pipe Dream at the Ward Theatre in the Fine Arts Center. The
play is appropriate for all ages, and it concerns the nature of theatre and
illusion, while telling the story of the Surrealist painter, Rene Magritte.
And to make it even more enticing, the Center is presenting it at no charge.

Hope to see you here. I'll continue to pass on what information I get as
summer passes.

Kim

>Riverbend starts this Friday, June 8, and downtown is a-buzz with
>preparations. One of my favorite stages during the festival is the
>UnumProvident stage across from the Hunter Museum. This stage usually
>features acoustic music and jazz--more my speed than some of the fare
>offered at other stages. The Hunter is open free during the festival too,
>until 9:00 every night, with your Riverbend pin. So if you haven't
>discovered the joys of Riverbend in the Arts District, check it out this
>year.
>
>You'll want to visit the Hunter, too, which opens a fabulous show this
>Friday. "Millennium Glass" features some of the most exciting work in
>contemporary art glass in the country.
>
>Another Riverbend treat this year is our own Chattanooga Symphony and Opera
>appearing on Sunday night with Grammy Award-winner Al Jarreau. We're
>pleased at Allied Arts to help make that concert possible.
>
>Theatre treats this week include "Tartuffe" by the Family Theatre Workshop
>and "Moon Over Buffalo" at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. CTC also opens
>its Circle Series production of "Baby with the Bath Water" on Friday, June
>8. It's a darkly comic look at parenthood.
>
>Finally, we want to congratulate the Choral Society for the Preservation of
>African American Song and their director, Roland Carter, on their appearance
>last week at the prestigious Spoleto Festival in Charleston. They bring
>great credit to our city!
