Friday, September 16 has been designated a National Day of Prayer and
Remembrance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The President of the
United States has asked the nation to take time that day to pray and to
perform acts of service.

I would like to encourage each person at UTC to make time that day to
remember and pray for those who have died and the hundreds of thousands
who have suffered in countless ways and remain homeless. I would like to
encourage student organizations to consider ways to observe this day as
well.

Thank you for the many ways you are seeking to make a positive
difference as citizens of UTC and the larger community.
