Through United Way's 2-1-1 call center, United Way of Greater
Chattanooga is attempting to provide resource information for the
thousands of either stranded or now homeless victims of Hurricane
Katrina.
We need your IMMEDIATE help in determining our region's availability of
resources. There is potential for many refugees to be sent to our
region for shelter and other services. Our community must be as prepared
and up to date as possible. United Way's 2-1-1 is working to help
coordinate the referral of needs to available services.
Please send a response back to this request:
IF you are currently serving victims of the hurricane,
1) how many individuals are you serving
2) what type of resources are most needed or being requested?
3) What types of resources do you have available for these victims
and for how long?
4) If you are "at capacity" with the services you offer, to what
other local services are you referring people
If you are not currently serving hurricane victims,
5) Are you willing to serve victims of the hurricane, and if so in
what capacity (for example food, clothing, shelter, transportation)?
PLEASE keep us posted when you reach capacity, if you have available
space, and when you no longer can take any more calls, etc.
Also, as you are aware of other resources available to help these
victims and their families, please let United Way 2-1-1 know ASAP!
