Dr. Charles Knight, Professor in Engineering, has received
$14,105 from the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners
to purchase new instruments for Engineering's junior-level fluid mechanics
laboratory.

The funding will enable Dr. Knight to purchase five Vortex Units. With
this equipment, students will study basic pressure variations in a fluid
resulting from acceleration. This element of fluid mechanics is essential
in many areas of engineering, and having access to the Vortex Units will
provide valuable applied experience in the classroom for students. As the
College of Engineering and Computer Science moves into new facilities next
year, faculty members hope to obtain advanced equipment to outfit the new
accommodations. Dr. Knight's acquisition of five Vortex Units is a major
step toward this goal.

Congratulations to Dr. Knight! Your efforts will enrich the learning
environment for students and bring valuable technological assets to campus.
