To anyone familiar with scientific formatting for the social sciences,

I am preparing a program on suicide prevention for other mental health
professionals, and I am citing material from a training I attended last
year. I came across a table with the heading "Suicide Risks in Specific
Disorders"

It is like the sample table appearing below, but with four columns

Condition

RR

%/yr

Prior attempt

38.4

0.549

Column 1 - Condition, Column 2 - RR, Column 3 - %/YR, Column 4 -
%Lifetime.

I don't know how the table will reformat for this text so I will also
describe:

The first row under column 1 is "Prior Attempt", under column 2 is 38.4,
under column 3 is 0.549, and under column 4 is 27.5. I think I am safe
to interpret this to mean that of those who make at least one prior
attempt, .549 percent will commit suicide within a year and 27.5 percent
will commit suicide in their lifetime (serious attempts, not gestures).
But I don't know what "RR" might mean (Rate of Re-attempt?).

First, is my assumption sufficiently warranted?

Second is RR a familiar abbreviation for some social science variable?

I am going to email the presenter, but you know how that sometimes goes.
I would appreciate any assistance with this since it seems like useful
information, but I don't want to be spouting off erroneous information.

Thanks,

ED
