Faculty and Staff,

Don't let the rain dissuade you from joining us for our 2000 step noon walk
today. The 2000 step noon walking group will meet at Gate 1 at McKenzie
Arena at 12:10 and will plan to walk around the concourse. Did you know
that 8 laps around the concourse = 1 mile?

We just have 2 days remaining in our guided 2000 step noon walk
program. However, we are hopeful that everyone will continue to look for
opportunities to increase their walking each day. Our goal is consistent
with the America On The Move (AOM) program designed to promote active
living in the United States. The AOM program has been designed to address
the concern that more than 60% of American adults do not get the
recommended 30 minutes of physical activity a day and 25% of American
adults aren't physically active at all.

If you haven't already visited the AOM website, you may want to check out
some of the interesting health tips contained
there: http://www.americaonthemove.org/ . When I checked the website this
morning, I was pleased to see that Tennessee is currently # 4 in the
country with 179 folks having registered to participate in the program.

One goal of the AOM program is to encourage folks to take the AOM pledge to
improve their energy balance by taking 2000 more steps each day (about 1
mile) and eating 100 fewer calories (about a pat of butter). Is this
simple health improvement program one that might benefit you? Check it out...
