One of our colleagues shared the following with me this afternoon. I
hope this will give those of us who oppose the change to two-way streets
even more enthusiasm to voice our opinions.

Things could get really bad, folks.

Joe

> It's even worse than we imagined. My husband is a traffic engineer, and at a recent ITE meeting, John van Winkle, the Traffic Engineer for the city, showed a copy of the preliminary plans for MLK and McCallie. These plans call for them to be 2-way, but with only THREE lanes, one in each direction and a turning lane!! So, we go from 4 lanes to one on McCallie coming into town! I asked him what would happen when CARTA stopped to pick up passengers, and he said no one addressed that! That leaves NO through lane!! Some one needs to check out the out-of-town traffic engineering firm that claims this will still move the same number of cars. Notice that it is NOT a local firm. Feel free to share this on RAVEN if you like.
