This is an attempt to simplify the explanation of the instructions received
on how to report time for the furlough period of July 1, 2 and 3. The
period is defined as 12:01 a.m. July 1, 2002 through 12:00 midnight July 3,
2002.

1. TERM AND STUDENT - No entry of hours should be made for bi-weekly paid
term and student employees for hours NOT worked during the furlough period.
There is no change in the method of recording hours WORKED for these
individuals.

2. Any Employees who were scheduled to be on annual or sick leave during
the furlough period should report annual or sick leave as if there was no
furlough.

3. A. REGULAR BI-WEEKLY employees who were scheduled to work July 1, 2
and 3 will NOT be required to take annual leave or leave without pay for
this period. A new paid leave type FUR1(Furlough) has been created to
record hours NOT worked during the furlough. (This means enter FUR1 on the
days you were scheduled to work and did not due to the furlough).

    B. REGULAR BI-WEEKLY employees who WORKED should record the hours
worked as usual under (RG1) AND use the new attendance type FRW (Furlough
Worked). (This means that for each (RG1) you enter during the furlough
there should be a (FRW). Any time NOT WORKED durning the furlough should
still be accounted for using (FUR1).

4. A. MONTHLY PAYROLL (NON-EXEMPT) employees reporting of scheduled hours
NOT WORKED should be recorded using the FUR1 (Furlough) absence type. All
hours WORKED should be recorded using attendance type FRW (Furlough
Worked). All hours worked in excess of the employees normal workday should
be recorded as they normally are.

    B. MONTHLY PAYROLL (EXEMPT) employees reporting of scheduled hours NOT
WORKED should be recorded using the FUR1 (Furlough) absence type. All hours
WORKED should be recorded using attendance type FRW (Furlough Worked).

Time sheets for Bi-weekly time ending July 14 are due to your designated
areas by 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 15.

Time sheets for Monthly time for the week of the furlough are due by 9:00
a.m., Wednesday, July 17 to your designated area. The balance of the
monthly July time will be due on the normal deadline date of August 5. I
suggest you send in the original for the first week, make a copy for your
records and complete the rest of the month on the copy, get another
signature and return it by the August 5 deadline date.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please contact me.
