The U.S. Dept. of Education has awarded Mr. Booker Scruggs and UTC's
Upward Bound program $240,377 to continue operations. Upward Bound is a
program to identify low-income, potential first-generation college students
in order to motivate them to successfully complete both their secondary and
postsecondary education. Approximately 65 students who attend designated
high schools in Hamilton County will be served. Participants will be
taught in the areas of literature, composition, mathematics, laboratory
science, and French and Spanish languages.

Our congratulations to Mr. Scruggs and his staff on continued funding for
this most worthwhile program.
