I just wanted to let everyone know that the Tennessee Indoor Rowing
Championships
is Saturday, January 29th.  The event is hosted by the UTC Rowing Team and
held here
in Maclellan Gym.  It is free to all faculty, staff and students at
UTC.  The rowing team
needs as many entries as possible, so there are events for those who have
never rowed
before, as well as Masters and Veterans.  Contact me for more information
if interested.

    The annual UTC Rowing fundraiser at Outback Steakhouse at Hamilton
Place is set for
Saturday, February 19th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm.  The cost is $10 per
person, all you can
eat buffet.  Tickets will be available soon.  We will also be having the
silent auction, and I will
put it on line, with bids closing at 1 pm at Outback at Hamilton Place.  I
will take online bids
until 5 pm on Friday, February 18th.

    I want to thank all of you who helped the UTC Rowing Team by giving me
your 12-digit BI-LO
and/or Food Lion numbers.  You do not lose any accumulated points, nor are
contacted by
the grocery chains.  Just every time you shop at one of the stores and use
your card it helps
the Rowing Team to earn money for upgraded rowing equipment.  The chains
set aside a sum
of money to be divided amongst all registered organizations based on how
much their boosters
spent over that three month period.

    Lastly, I want to plug the Men's and Women's Basketball Teams.  If you
have not been to a
game lately, then you are really missing something.  Both teams are playing
aggressive styles
of basketball both on defense and offense, and really running the
floor.  It is exciting to watch.
And when you go, you can also help the Rowing Team by visiting the Rowing
concession stand
near section 219/220.  We are there for almost every Arena event, so get a
little exercise and
walk around to help the team raise funds.
