The last Spanish film of the semester will be shown NEXT Tuesday, April
15, 2003 at 8:00pm in Brock 201. Julio y su angel / Julio and His Angel
is a 1996 drama from Mexico. It is Jorge Cervera Jr.'s directorial
debut. (You might recognize his face from his many roles on TV and in
movies since he came to the US.) This film has been shown as the
centerpiece production at several Latin American film series in the US.
The plot revolves around eight-year-old Julio who is left alone after
his mother's death. She had promised to find an angel to protect him in
her absence. "The movie is about promises, loyalty and its
consequences. [.] This is a very enjoyable story that will make you
laugh, feel sad and touch you with it's simple, yet powerful message. If
you've ever traveled in Mexico this will remind you of some of the
places you may have visited."-Rico, amazon.com review
