Dear Colleagues,
The Math. Dept. is at it again (we hosted the SE Sectional Meeting of the
American Math. Society in Oct 1996). Hundreds of mathematicians will be
on campus FRI and SAT. for the Annual SE Sectional Meeting of the A.M.S.
More concretely: There will be 13 special sessions (topics), 1 general
session and 4 one hour invited talks by biggies from the Math. World.
Altogether there will be over 200 presentations. The talks will be held in
Metro, the University Center and the invited talks will take place in 129
Grote.You are all invited to come and have a look. The full program is
posted adjacent to the Math Office on the third floor of Metro. For
information call Suzie at 4545. Seven years ago Grayson Walker urged our
Dept to put the UTC Math Dept on the map; we hope this meeting is another
step toward that goal and his vision.
