I have had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Jim Auer speak on several occasions.
Because he is so well-informed and a very effective speaker, I am sure you
will learn a lot about our foreign policy, economic ties, and future
challenges in East Asia. I always gain new knowledge about Asia when I hear
Jim speak.

He was one of our Navy's top Japan specialists, and he now heads the Center
for US-Japan Studies and Cooperation at the Vanderbilt Institute for Public
Policy Studies. His talk will consider Japan, Korea, and China in light of
recent events.

Please urge your students to attend this event sponsored by the UTC Asia
Committee; I know they will not be disappointed.
