In case any departments are lucky enough to have money they wish to spend
before June 30, Dell has extended a special deal to all UT campuses for
computer purchases.
There are several prices and configurations, but the one that jumps out is
a 450Mhz Pentium III with 128MB of RAM, CDROM, 8MB video, 17" monitor, a
Zip drive, 20GB (yes, that's 20 gigabytes) hard drive, sound, and
intergrated Ethernet ready to plug into our network for $1,524.00. This
deal is good only through June 30.
If you are buying a PC for the University before June 30 let me know and I
can provide the other options and order numbers.
General (Repeating) Advice:
1. Buy a Dell or (if you can justify the extra expense and know the ups &
downs) a Mac.
2. Avoid inkjet printers for business use.
3. See our web pages at http://www.utc.edu/helpdesk/hardware.htm.
