Everyone,
Today, Tuesday March 15, the UT Chattanooga Cress Gallery of Art
opens the doors on a new exhibition "The UTC Department of Art
Sophomore Review 2005".
This exhibit showcases the artistic production of the Department's
second year students with work hung salon style, from floor to
ceiling. While brief in length, the exhibit is one of our most
popular student shows, full of vitality and energy.
The work in this exhibit is primarily created within the curriculum
and choosen by the individual student as a demonstration of their
mastery of the formal aspects of visual art as applied to their
chosen degree concentration.
The Sophomore Review Exhibit is part of the requirements of Art 200.
This course is an important rite of passage for our majors in the
professional Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science (Art
Education) tracts and its successful completion a requirement for all
300 and 400 level courses. On Friday, the doors of the Gallery will
close as each student meets alone with the full Faculty and is
assessed on the basis of the work and their oral competency in
speaking to it.
The exhibition will be open to the public today, Wednesday and
Thursday from 9am to 7pm (and until 7:30PM tonight just in case you
are planning on attending the Patten Series Performance!).
We hope you take a moment to stop by and celebrate this wonderful
student exhibit!
Hope to see you at the Cress.
