Colleagues,

The purpose of this note is to acknowledge the work of Rebecca Cook as
Director of the UTC Writing Center during the past year.

Rebecca was asked to assume the role of interim director late last summer,
just before the fall semester began. (In addition to taking over management
of the center, Rebecca also completed her M.A. in English during the fall
term.) In the spring, she was promoted to full director. Throughout the
year, she has provided leadership, direction, spirit, insight, and very,
very hard work in support of students from all majors and at all levels.
She has mentored tutors who work in the center, and worked collaborately
with faculty members to help increase the writing fluency of students.
Always, she has brought to the work an enthusiasm and care that students
and colleagues easily recognize and respond to. Her contribution during the
past year has brought benefit to our entire campus.
