Mr. Booker Scruggs, Director of UTC's Upward Bound program, has received
supplemental funding in the amount of $3,803 from the US Department of
Education.  This brings the total external funding Mr. Scrugges has
received for this program to $258,076.

This supplemental funding will be used towards improving work-study
opportunities for Upward Bound participants at UTC.  Normally Upward Bound
participants are paid a stipend of $60 per month during June, July and
August.  However, with the supplemental funding, program participants
will be paid $300 per month during summer months.

Congratulations to Mr. Scruggs on receiving the funding to increase the
stipends of students involved the Upward Bound program, and best wishes for
its success.
