I am sorry to report that William H. Shurr, who served on our English
faculty from 1968 to 1972, died suddenly on Wednesday in Chapel Hill, NC.

Bill moved from UTC to Washington State University and then returned to
Tennessee to accept a professorship in American literature at UT-Knoxville.
He and his wife, Georgia, who had taught French at UTC, retired several
years ago to North Carolina, their home state.

A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday in Chapel Hill.
