MOCS DEFENSIVE END SANDERS SIGNS WITH NFL'S NEW YORK GIANTS

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Former Chattanooga Mocs defensive end Kenny Sanders
signed a free-agent contract with the National Football League's New York
Giants Wednesday and will report to the team Friday for the Giants' rookie
and free-agent mini-camp.
Sanders was an All-Southern Conference honoree for UTC as a senior last
season as well as a Third-Team All-America selection. He ranked fifth on
the squad with 63 tackles, and 19 of his hits were behind the line of
scrimmage. A native of Lanett, Ala., Sanders recorded 6.5 sacks, forced
three fumbles and broke up two passes.
He finished his career at UTC with 192 total tackles, 14.5 sacks and 37
tackles for loss.
Sanders is the second Mocs defensive player in the last two years to sign
on with an NFL team. Tackle Kareem Robinson signed a free-agent contract
with the Baltimore Ravens after last season.
Other former Mocs still active in the NFL as of last season are receiver
Jerry Ellison at Tampa Bay, running back Marrio Grier at New England and
receiver Terrell Owens at San Francisco.
