The Center for Community Career Education has received first-year funding
of $417,200 from the US Department of Education to establish UTC's third
Gear-Up program.
UTC's first two Gear-Up programs are operated by the College of Education
and Applied Professional Studies in partnership with Hamilton County
Schools. The most recent grant will support UTC as it establishs
partnerships to serve Trewhitt Junior High School in Bradley County and
Rossville Middle School in Georgia.
Gear-Up activities will address the weaknesses and gaps in services provided
to the targeted children, parents, and teachers. The program will provide
educational and social services to children at the targeted schools including
tutoring, counseling, mentoring, summer enrichment programs, life skills,
cultural diversity, motivation and resiliency, and healthy lifestyles.
Please join in congratulating staff of the Center for Community Career
Education on receiving this grant.
