Dr. Nicky Ozbek, will give the first presentation of the semester Her
lecture entitled "You Smelled Good to Me: Loss of the Sense of Smell
After Brain Injury" will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. An
abstract is provided below:

Abstract

If someone asked you which sense you would chose to give up, would you
chose the sense of smell? Most people do. Yet, we miss it greatly once
it is gone. This is a discussion about loss, brain injury, and our
sense of smell. Parts of a film, made with the assistance of UTC
students and those individuals with a brain injury who were willing to
share their story on film, will be shown. Discussion will center around
the film and related research.

Professional Background

Dr. Ozbek received her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from The University of
Georgia and did her Post Doctoral Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical
school. Her research interests include physical and emotional recovery
following Brain Injury.
